The Car
The University of Southampton Motor Racing Team currently races a Tristesse Mk.6 originally built and designed by Dick Hartle in 1986. The Racing Team acquired the car in 2002 and has worked to develop and improve it since.
Currently the Racing Team are in the process of comprehensively overhauling the car and it will become the SURT Mk.1 when completed.

Engine - Fiat Fire 1108cc, Newman control camshaft.
Drivetrain - Four speed Reliant 850, rear wheel drive.
Chassis - based on Tristesse Mk. 6, tubular steel spaceframe.
Suspension - Spax Dampers: front - double wishbone, rear - live axle, BMC A series.
